Best NBA Picks

Sunday, May 3, 2009 7:08 PDT -07:00   Featured   1 Comment »

Any person who plans to make a living on NBA betting should realize that it is not that easy especially if you are just new to the world of sports betting or gambling. This is because if you don’t want to end up losing your money, you must watch out for choosing the best NBA picks. Some of the things that you can do in order to get the best possible NBA picks are:

• Be updated on the status of the player of each team. Know the latest news and happenings as well as any possible injuries and trades. Also, the condition of all the star players can play a big part in choosing any NBA picks.

• Be aware of the popularity of every team. Many times you should know that the teams that are among the most popular are considered to be best Nba picks.

• Research on all of the possible factors that can affect the results outcome. This can help especially if you are having doubts on whether they are one of the best NBA picks for the game or not. Also. Make sure to look for advices from professional oddsmakers and playmakers that are experienced. Most of the times, the predictions that these people make about the best nba picks can turn out to be reliable.

• Be aware of the part of the NBA year. In my opinion, the good time to bet is normally in the later part of the NBA season. This is because there are times when the players will give their best and all the teams are in their peak condition. Besides, their performance in the part of the season can be a factor in knowing the best NBA picks during these times.

• Make smart bets. Bet only on a limited number of teams including the teams that are considered the best picks at that period of time. The fewer the teams that are analyzed makes it a better possible to look at them all very closely and derive your own judgments on whether they will win or not. Also, this shall also include understanding when not to bet especially when you’re not well analyzed the situation.

• Trust your sixth sense. This should build up a part of your decisions. This helps it to develop to the point where it can give you reliable inputs on the best possible NBA picks that are available. You can win more in nba betting by combining it with the results of the latest NBA picks as well as the insights of some of the best odds that can be found online.

I’ve been doing great in nba betting by playing the low risk bets. NBA betting has now become my second main passive income which is consistently making me few thousands dollars a month. I’m more than happy to tell you how I managed to do that in my sports betting champ.

Political News And Comic Books

comic graphic novels

Long-time fans of comic book art understand just how closely political news and graphic novels can be. After all, George W Bush (”Iron Man” and “All-Star Squadron”) Nixon (”The Incredible Hulk” and “The Watchmen”), JFK (”Superman”), Ronald Reagan (”Legends,” “Superman” and “The Invaders”), Bill Clinton (”Captain America”) and FDR (Marvel’s “The Invaders” and DC’s “All-Star Squadron”) are just a few of the US presidents who’ve appeared in comic book series. (Of course, these are just a few of the many examples to be found in old comic books.) Over time, the scrutiny placed on the government has intensified, even in the comic book industry, although the big publishers are always wary about coming across as too preachy or obvious. It’s a delicate balance that must be fantastical enough to be subtle but real enough to make an impression.

On October 8th, 2008, just before the November elections, John McCain and Barack Obama starred in their own comic books published by IDW Publishing, only it was nothing like you would think. Even though “Savage Dragon” publicly endorsed Barack Obama in a recent issue, the IDW publications were presented as objective, illustrated, political news biographies of the two nominees. It has been described as “heavy on the facts, light on opinion.”

The McCain book featured art by Stephen Thompson and writing by Andy Helfer (who also did “Road to Perdition” and “A History of Violence”) and the Obama book was illustrated by Tom Morgan and written by Jeff Mariotte (who has done Superman, Spider-Man and Star Trek comic book series). “We didn’t do anything that is sensational here,” said Scott Dunbier from IDW. “We’re stuck to the facts.” Dunbier added that graphic novels have proven extremely effective in reaching and educating people. “We’re not in the business of doing textbooks,” he clarified, “But I think comic books really do have the great potential to inform and teach and do more than just standard superhero comics.” Fans can pre-order the books through their website or visit www.uclick.com to view the comics over their cell phones.

Political news isn’t always so directly reported through comic book art, though. Sometimes, events in modern life are paralleled through events in the comic book heroes universe. For example, Marvel Comic’s “Civil War,” released in 2007, introduces an epic battle following the passage of “the Superhuman Registration Act” (much like the Patriot Act in our world), which asks that people trade in some of their liberties for security. The Registration, more specifically, requires all costumed heroes to be licensed and trained, disclosing their secret identities to the government. While some characters in the DC Universe, like Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards and Iron Man support the registration, others like Captain America develop an underground resistance. Spiderman initially supports the idea so much he unmasks himself on live television, but later recants when he sees the Abu Ghraib-like prisons. Whether these obtuse allegories are an effective way of making a political statement or not remains to be seen.

There are also political news people like K. Thor Jensen and Jenny Gonzalez who focus on war stories. In “House of Twelve Goes To War,” the depictions focus on little-known aspects of the War on Terrorism. “Some sad, some action-packed, some unfathomable, but I promise you each and every one is 100% true,” the website declares. “Team 12 was drafted by the government and forced into working towards its war effort. When we returned, we decided the truth must be told in the most effective way possible; auto-bio comics! These are our stories of our experiences during the Great War.”

Ares: King Of The Downloads?

Thursday, April 30, 2009 5:14 PDT -07:00   Blog Posts, Blogroll, Featured, Free Music Download Sites   1 Comment »

The popularity of the Ares file sharing software has enjoyed a surge in popularity of late. With the demise of sometimes illegal and often spyware-ridden peer-to-peer platforms such as Napster, Kazaa, Limewire and Vuze (formerly Azureus), Ares appears as something of a knight in shining armor.

Ares software runs on the huge Ares and BitTorrent networks, and this means that its users have access to a massive library of shared files. Not only is the implementation of the software novel and efficient, the use of the interface has been carefully thought out and caters for experts and newcomers alike. The software is well maintained by a group of enthusiastic programmers, and the fact that Ares received awards from prestigious on-line magazines comes as no surprise to anyone that has used it.

The decision to download Ares has being taken by many millions of people, and it is thanks to user friendly software like Ares that this is possible. Older methods of file sharing were – by virtue of them being complex, technical and rather unfriendly – only within the grasp of those people, normally younger members of society, who were willing to invest considerable time to learn. With Ares this is not longer the case, and the proliferation into more diverse areas of the population has only served to  fuel Ares’ skyward trajectory.

Sales of downloaded music are set to overtake CD sales in 2012, according to official reports. It is notable that these reports do not take into account the sharing and downloading of music from peer-to-peer networks; many sources suggest that if these figures were considered then overtaking maneuver would have come and gone some time ago.

File sharing once had a rather bad reputation, especially amongst the media whose opinions were funded by those who thought that they stood to lose most from free music downloads. Opinion across the board has now changed and some of the biggest opponents to the file sharing movement – Sony BMG et al – have leaped into business with organizations seeking to develop free music into a financially viable industry. Make no mistake: file sharing is here to stay, and Ares will no doubt be leading the charge well into the future.

Captain Phillips Freed, Now What?

Sunday, April 12, 2009 5:51 PDT -07:00   Blog Posts, Featured   2 Comments »

Thank God that Captain Phillips has been freed.  I am so happy about the outcome.  Yes, three men have died, but how many more will not be killed and how much suffering will not happen due to these 3 deaths?  Maybe, some of the pirates might think next time –Hey, I might actually get killed for doing this?! Yes, Captain Phillips is free but what about the other 200 hostages and ships that the Somali pirates have?  If we as Americans are going to police the world (which in my opinion we are) why don’t we use our true might!  Should it have taken three US Navel vessels a helicotor and 5 days to free the captain of the U.S. flagged Maersk Alabama?  I feel as if nobody thinks like I do, and I feel as if I just want everybody to be a little safer… Maybe I just need to smoke salvia and chill!

Coast Guard Rescue Called Off

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 8:27 PST -08:00   Blog Posts, Featured, general   No Comments »

The Coast Guard on Tuesday stopped searching for two NFL players and a third man lost in rough, chilly Gulf of Mexico waters off the Florida coast.  The USCG searched 24,000 miles of ocean before giving up the search.  Oakland Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper, free-agent defensive lineman Corey Smith, who played with the Detroit Lions last season, and former South Florida player William Bleakley, had been missing since Saturday when their boat capsized during a fishing trip.  Bleakley’s father said he thought the Coast Guard did everything it could and that his expectations lowered after only one survivor was found Monday, nearly two days after the four friends were knocked out of their 21-foot boat.  “I think they were not to be found,” Robert Bleakley said.  Coast Guard Capt. Timothy Close said officials were sure that if there were any more survivors, they would have been found.  Crews did rescue Bleakley’s former South Florida teammate, 24-year-old Nick Schuyler, who managed to stay with the boat. It was Bleakley who swam underneath to retrieve three life jackets he could find, along with a cushion, a groggy Schuyler told Miller from a Tampa hospital. Bleakley used the cushion and the other men wore the jackets, Miller said. He said searchers came across a cooler and a life jacket 16 miles southeast of the boat, but saw no other signs of the men. Family and friends embraced and sobbed outside the Coast Guard station shortly before the announcement. They left without talking with reporters.

Dow Tanked Lowest Since 1997

Monday, March 2, 2009 7:17 PST -08:00   Featured   1 Comment »

The DJI average tanked below 7,000 at the opening bell and kept driving lower all day, finishing at 6,763 — a loss of nearly 300 points.  A relentless sell-off in the stock market Monday blew through barriers that would have been unthinkable just weeks ago, and investors warned there was no reason to believe buyers will return anytime soon.  Each of the 30 stocks in the index lost value for the day.  And the S&P 500 stock index, a much broader measure of the market’s health, dipped below the psychologically important 700 level before closing just above it. It hadn’t traded below 700 since October 1996.  Investors were worried anew about the stability of the financial system after insurer American International Group posted a staggering $62 billion loss for the fourth quarter, the biggest in U.S. corporate history — and accepted an expanded bailout from the government.  “As bad as things are, they can still get worse, and get a lot worse,” said Bill Strazzullo, chief market strategist for Bell Curve Trading, who said he believes the Dow might fall to 5,000 and the S&P to 500.  Its last close below 7,000 was May 1, 1997 — a time when the market was barreling to one record high after another because of the boom in technology stocks, but often suffered big drops as investors worried about inflation and rising interest rates.  This time around, Wall Street analysts seem to believe that a stock market recovery will first require signs of health among financial companies, and on Monday those signs seemed further away than ever.  AIG, whose reach is so vast that the government warns letting it fail would cripple the very world financial system, will get another $30 billion in loans on top of the $150 billion already invested by the government.  The banking sector helped drive the market lower. Citigroup stock lost 20 percent of its value and fell to a paltry $1.20 per share. HSBC lost 19 percent. Bank of America lost 8 percent.  While the root of the problem for the financial firms is the bad bets they made on mortgages and mortgage-backed securities, now the recession is exacerbating their problems, forcing job cuts.  “The economy definitely has deteriorated since November,” said Sean Simko, head of fixed income management at SEI Investments. “It’s just the fact that we haven’t seen signs of improving or stabilizing, per se, which is adding to the morass of the market.”

Snow Job by Facebook … ?

Friday, February 27, 2009 1:06 PST -08:00   Blog Posts, Featured, News   1 Comment »

I know that the facebook team is saying what they need to say probably after having a frightening meeting with their lawyers. You have put your behind on the line now and everyone knows what your intentions are. You mess up one time, your’e out. You sell one persons personal artwork. You’re done. That person owns their own. That’s why their name is own it.“This message is just one to try to calm us down so you don’t have lawsuits up the ying yang! I want to see Facebook give a press release or press conference on CNN announcing publicly what you are doing. That way you have no way out of it.“  Facebook wouldn’t exist without it’s users. Your ads wouldn’t be clicked on without your users. Shady business will always bite you on your ass. Let’s ’see’ if you keep your end of the deal??“Remember in no time there will be yet another bigger and better social network taking over the net.”  That’s Bree in response to advertising company Facebook’s embarrassingly blatant effort to sneak modified Terms of Service past the people who keep it in business. In pure, unadulterated PR-babble, “Last week, we returned to our previous Terms of Use as we worked on a new set of governing documents that would more clearly explain the relationship between Facebook and its users,” says chief advertising exec Mark Zuckerman, failing to point out he had zero choice in the matter.  Since then, “I’ve been excited to see how much people care about Facebook and how willing they are to contribute to the process of governing the site.”“Our main goal at Facebook is to help make the world more open and transparent,” he says which, translated, reads, “Our main goal at Facebook is to make users believe we’re open and transparent so we can secretly get on with our main business of selling their data to make as rich.”
