Step by step guide – Downloading videos to your computer
We present to you below a step-by-step guide to downloading your favorite videos and storing them on your computer for later viewing.
Step 1
For this guide we assume your have downloaded and installed Ares Tube on your computer. Start up the application and click on the ‘options’ button.
Step 2
In the options dialog box, inspect the entry in the box called ‘Save Movies To’. The folder specified here is going to be the folder in which your downloaded videos are stored. For ease of reference I will call this folder C:\Ares Tube\Downloads. You can change this folder to whatever you like using the button to the right of the box.
Step 3
Whilst still in the options box select the format that you want to save your videos in. ‘iPod‘ saves the videos in mp4 format (compatible with iPods and iPhones), while MPEG and AVI save the file in MPEG and AVI format respectively – both should be compatible with most computers.
Step 4
The option ‘Delete Original File After Conversion’ simply asks Ares Tube to clean up after itself once we have saved a file in the appropriate format. Unless there is some good reason not to, it is a probably a good idea to check this option.
Step 5
The ‘Import Converted Files Into iTunes’ will do exactly what it says: import the video you’ve saved into your iTunes platform. If you don’t use iTunes then uncheck this box.
Step 6
Once you’re happy with the options you have selected click the ‘Ok’ button. You should come back to the opening screen.
Step 7
Now you need to find a video that you want to save. If you already know the location of the video then paste its address (the ‘URL’) into the text box to the right of to the red button. Click the green arrow to the right of the box (or hit return on your keyboard).
Step 8
If you don’t yet have a video in mind then find one! Click one of the links in the opening window, or type in your favorite video-sharing site (like www.youtube.com) in the address bar and browse away. The browser window works in almost the same as the browser that you normally use, but it’s a little simpler.
Step 9
Once you’ve located the video and the address is in the address bar, you should see the video being played in the browser window. From here we can save the video to your computer. Click on the green button with the addition sign, to the top right of the window. The web address of your video will appear in the white box to the bottom of the window. This DOES NOT mean that your video has been saved, so please keep reading.
Step 10
You can download more than one video at a time, so keep selecting videos until you’re finished. You may end up with a few lines of web addresses in the white box.
Step 11
Are you ready to download? Then hit the ‘download’ button and wait. Simple! Your movies will be downloaded then converted into your desired format.
Step 12
Once the download and conversion process has completed you can watch your videos. Find these in the folder that we identified in Step 2 – probably C:\Ares Tube\Downloads.

Unlucky for some… but not us. That’s it. We’re done here. Enjoy.
