Acai juice is the new hip way to get in shape

I’m a bit of a health nut and I’m eager to jump on any new trends that happen to come my way. Acai juice has been labeled as a fad by some observers, but the criticism is generally undeserved. The thing is that acai juice has actually been shown to be very good for your body and mind. Far from acai being a passing fad, I think it is a food that is slowly going to enter our food chain and stay there for good.

And this is great news as far as I am concerned because I love the stuff. Getting acai in its juice form — a tip I got from Oprah Winfrey herself — is incredibly convenient as I can take it with me anywhere. I can have my acai fix while I’m driving, while at work or even while I’m pumping iron at the gym — a double whammy of health if ever there was one.

I’ve got to say that I’m impressed so far with the effects that it’s having on me. Obviously I can’t prove that it is the acai juice that is doing me the good, but it certainly feels that way. And who am I to argue with empirical evidence like that? Acai juice is a winner in my book.

Controlling your weight with the acai diet

Acai berries contain high levels of amino acids, phytosterols, fiber and fatty acids, which can improve how efficiently a body burns fat. An acai diet can considerably aid in a person’s attempts to lose weight and stay looking trim.

Antioxidants

Acai berries are absolutely chock full of antioxidants, which, as you may know, are your body’s best defense against free radicals. The free radicals that naturally occur in your body attack cells and organs, causing degeneration, which we know as aging. A higher level of antioxidants slows this process, making a person look and feel younger. Fans of the acai diet will tell you about higher levels of vitality and energy.

Fatty acids

While you may think that all fats are bad for you, they aren’t. Our bodies need some fats to keep us healthy. These amino acids are essential for the body’s muscles to function and also to regenerate after exercise. Phytosterols

Cell membranes are made up of phytosterols, which are found in high levels in acai berries. These phytosterols make the digestive tract more efficient by removing waste materials and absorbing nutrients, all of which makes a person more healthy.

A study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry showed that acai-berry extracts killed off 86% of leukaemia in a test:

“Acai berries are already considered one of the richest fruit sources of antioxidants,” said Stephen Talcott, an assistant professor with UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. “This study was an important step toward learning what people may gain from using beverages, dietary supplements or other products made with the berries.”

Why go for acai berries?

Acai berries contain high levels of antioxidants, which have never been more essential. We live in an age of phytoestrogens, chemicals, pesticides, and other harmful environmental toxins.
