There was a blog posted on the NASA site in response to the stories doing the rounds about a leaked Air Force Study which claimed that the crew members of Orion Would not survive in the event of an abort due to an explosion after launch of the Ares 1 rocket. The study claimed that blazing chunks of the solid rocket fuel would melt parachutes of all crew members while they were on the escape system. The blog dismissed this theory put forward by the Air Force as irrelevant and perhaps preliminary.
However, some stories are doing the rounds that people who were specialized in launch abortion within the NASA were ignored and at times silenced. Some claim that NASA ignores facts and does not pay heed to the advice of senior and experienced engineers. It will be worthwhile to download ares related data and study it so as to see where things are going wrong and why the space program is not progressing as it should. There appears to be some deep rooted problems in NASA where a lot of facts are just being brushed under the carpet in a bid to push things without analyzing the problem areas. This could lead to disaster if left unchecked.
