President Barack Obama has formed a panel on Ares project
which is about to decide or even alter the future of NASA. Marshall Space Flight Center’s work on the Ares project is at stake by any decision taken by the said Huntsville panel which is at sitting in Huntsville today. The impact of cut on Ares on the local businesses needs a thorough analysis. The first local business which is under direct threat by the recommendations made by the President’s Human Space Flight Committee is Orion Propulsion. Tom Pickens is the president of the said local business. The President of the Orion opined to WAAY 31 that the company is very much worried about the uncertainty looming above the project and it has a damaging effect on the work environment and is keeping their people in a sit and wait mode. The committee has given a patient hearing to the Marshall Space Flight Center administrator’s claims on the importance of the present design of the Ares One and its features like quickness and safety for reaching the space. Pickens is pessimistic about the product’s probability of leaving the ground. The Chairman of Obama’s committee, Norman Augustine is however optimistic about the project and has given encouraging speeches to the local companies to keep their pride on the work done and hoped that the leaders of the country will take a right decision. Pickens is but very much disappointed to see things start and stop and the same will have a harmful impact on the company and their staff. After 33 days, the final result will emerge on August 31 when the final report of the committee will be stalled
