Lucian Grainge takes over at UMG
p2pnet view Advertising | Music:- To no one’s surprise, Lucian Grainge (left) is now the official head of the Universal Music Group’s international division.
France’s Vivendi Universal is the largest and richest member of the Big 4 organised music cartel.
Grainge’s name came up when now ex-Universal Music Group boss Doug Morris (right) abruptly departed, moving to Vevo.
Morris was playing ad-man “to lure marketers to the Vevo music-video Web site in the latest bid to rebuild the industry,” says Bloomberg News.
Vevo guy Rio Caraeff has “more or less confirmed … my suspicion that the music service was not created to serve a new need for consumers,” said Matt Rosoff says in CNet News, recently.
Rather, he says, “it was built to help advertisers and content owners”.
Well Duh! – as p2pnet remarked.
“I have been grooming him [Grainge] to succeed me for quite a while now”, the New York Times has Morris saying in a statement which creates intriguing mental images.
Stay tuned.
