NetEase gets green light for WoW in China
p2pnet view Games:- Chinese online games operator NetEase.com was the victor in the battle against The9 for possession of Activision Blizzard’s WoW, p2pnet reported in the spring of 2009.
“Last year NetEase teamed up with Blizzard Entertainment to license and operate titles in China,” p2pnet quoted Research Oracle as saying, going on:
“The increasing number of Internet users and improving quality of games in China has provided growth potential for the online game industry and NetEase.”
However, “Open warfare has broken out between China’s ministry of culture (MOC) and the general administration of press and publications (GAPP), said p2pnet, adding:
“The two are currently washing their dirty linen in public. And it’s all over a game. But not just any game.
“The firefight broke out after GAPP decided Monday night to suspend its approval of the World of WarCraft online game,” said China Daily, from whence came the pic.
Now, NetEase has won approval to run its WoW expansion game in China, says ChinaTechNews, going on:
“The company announced that its affiliated company, Shanghai EaseNet Network Technology Limited, has received approval from the General Administration of Press and Publication to operate The Burning Crusade, an expansion of the World of Warcraft game.”
