Shut down, radio ‘pirate’, 14, ordered
p2pnet news view | Radio:- MIX 91.9 FM, an illegal radio station operated by a man and his son out of a “shabby looking hotel and strip club” in Ottawa is in trouble with Industry Canada.
“Despite a cease and desist order from the feds on Tuesday, Jayhaed Saadé, and his father George Saadé simply waited a few hours and began broadcasting again on Wednesday afternoon,” says Digital Home.
Broadcasting without a licence carries a maximum fine of $5,000 and could result in jail time, says the CBC, adding:
“Saadé said he’s wanted to run a radio station since he was a small child, so he set one up using equipment he ordered on the internet, including a sound processor to improve the clarity and a radio data system that displays the name of the song that’s playing.
“He even mounted an antenna on the roof.”
According to the story, Saadé says he’s applied for a licence and “plans to keep broadcasting in the meantime”.
(Cheers, Marc)
