Okay, you know you’re twitter account? @p2pnet. Well, it sent me a direct message earlier, which said, ‘I make money online with google. i learned how here XXX’.
I assume that you didn’t send me that message, but something must have? Not sure if your Twitter account has been hacked, or if you’ve got an app accessing your account and sending messages. Just thought you should know …
Indeed! So I contacted Twitter support describing the problem and saying I planned to do a post, so could they get back to me as soon as they could manage it.
I had a totally non-relevant auto-response this morning.
But now the mystery can be cleared up, thanks to CNet News which did get an answer, to wit »»»
A Twitter representative said it was not a phishing scam because the site to which the spam links does not ask for a username and password, or look like a Twitter page.
“We’re on it and fixing accounts as fast as possible,” she wrote in an e-mail. “You can keep posted on known issues as well by checking in on the Twitter Status page.”
But there was nothing on the Google spam/scam at 11:08 Pacific.
