Twitter tweets get Indian minister in hot water
p2pnet news view P2P | Politics:- Joseph Jacob, Indian minister of state Shashi Tharoor’s (right) ‘officer on special duty’ got his boss into trouble.
For twittering.
Jacob is a “handpicked aide of Tharoor, who managed his Lok Sabha election campaign in Thiruvananthapuram”, says the Indian Express.
But on December 30 Jacob tweeted links to two newspaper articles, “one which was critical of External Affairs Minister Krishna’s public snub to Tharoor” and another “which backed Tharoor’s contention that new visa rules will cost the country ‘millions of dollars’.”
“Jacob, when contacted by The Indian Express, was defensive,” says the post, quoting him as stating:
“I have not put any comments, I have only given the links. I wanted to share it with my friends. If I tell somebody to watch a movie, does it mean that I agree with the contents? It was only a suggestion. Giving the links does not mean that I agree with it, so it is not fair to say that I have done anything against Mr Krishna.”
