Was Dan Glickman fired from MPAA?
p2pnet view Movies:- MPAA mouthperson Dan ‘The Joker’ Glickman is down to his last Hollywood chuckle.
He’s “stepping down”, says the Associated Press.
President and CEO Bob Pisano will serve as interim chief executive while it searches for a replacement, says the story.
Is that “stepping down” or “booted out“? – one wonders.
He’s a “bad and boring speaker who has not repped the movie business well in Washington,” said Nikki Finke in Deadline Hollywood a little under a year ago, going on:
“The moguls in particular blame him for not being able to keep those $246M in tax breaks for studios and filmmakers intact within the stimulus package. The thinking is that Glickman, a Democrat like Jack Valenti (although that`s where the comparison ends), got outmaneuvered by Republican lawmakers.”
“The MPAA board, only voted to extend Glickman’s contract for another 18 months,” she added.
But now he’ll be going even sooner than that — five months sooner.
Wither doth he goest now?
“Mr. Glickman brings to RI a long history of public service, fighting hunger and helping underserved people in the U.S. and around the world,” says the organisation.

Meanwhile, rumours that U2’s Bono will be taking over at the MPAA should probably be discounted.
