EFF fights illegal iPhone search
After police in Daly City, California, seized a suspect’s phone during his arrest, investigators rifled its contents, including contacts, called phone numbers, emails, text messages, search history, and photos, says the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation).
They did it without following official police procedure and then used information they found during the illegal search to obtain a warrant, it says.
Now this Thursday foundation lawyer Marcia Hofmann will ask to have the illegally gathered evidence supressed, and the warrant quashed.
