Has ex-MPAA boss Glickman been benched?
Dan ‘The Joker’ Glickman hasn’t yet officially departed from the MPAA for his new job, and they haven’t named a replacement yet (we were kidding when we posted ex-RIAA siren Hilary Rosen was taking over).
In a couple of months, he’s off to Refugees International after his sudden and unexpected departure from the MPAA (Motionless Picture Association of America).
But it seems he’s already been cut out of the loop.
Big Music’s RIAA has the US Department of Justice pretty well sewn up.
Now it’s the MPAA’s turn.
The MPAA has “welcomed Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to form a new Department of Justice Task Force on Intellectual Property as part of a department-wide initiative to confront the growing number of domestic and international intellectual property (IP) crimes.”
And …
“We are grateful to Attorney General Holder for recognizing the importance of preventing the theft of creative content and enforcing laws against piracy. By combating intellectual property theft both on the Internet and on the streets, the Justice Department is helping protect American jobs, exports and economic strength.”
The words could have come from Glickman, together with a few non sequiturs for good measure.
But not this time.
They were placed in the mouth of Bob Pisano, president and interim CEO, is the one doing the applauding.
Stay tuned.
