High Court rejects libel case because article received approximately four visits OUT-LAW News
A libel action over an article that appeared on the website of a South African magazine has been dismissed by a court in England. Describing the claim as being “totally without merit,” Mr Justice Tugendhat said the claimants had failed to establish “substantial publication” within the court’s jurisdiction.
Two Madoff programmers arrested for role in fraud Reuters
Two computer programmers provided technical support to falsify documents and trading records for swindler Bernard Madoff and took hush money to help keep the massive fraud going, U.S. authorities said. The FBI arrested Jerome O’Hara, 46, and George Perez, 43, at their homes on Friday morning on criminal charges of conspiracy for falsifying books and records at both the broker-dealer and investment arms of Bernard L. The next day, law enforcement sources said the FBI expected as many as 10 people could be criminally charged for their roles in the decades-long fraud of as much as $65 billion.

RSA reveals details behind re-shipping scam CNet News
RSA FraudAction Research Lab has uncovered the workings behind a recent re-shipping scam in which U.S. residents were used as mules to send goods purchased with stolen credit card numbers overseas. The operation began a year ago and received applications from more than 1,900 people, though only 33 people were “hired,” according to an RSA FraudAction Research Lab blog post on Thursday. Laptops, iPods, iPhones, Nokia smartphones, digital cameras, Sony PlayStation 3 devices, and DJ equipment were among the items shipped to addresses in Russia and Belarus. RSA estimates that more than $36,000 worth of merchandise was cashed out every month before the scam ended earlier this year. The operation masqueraded as a company called “Air Parcel Express,” and it had an authentic-looking Web site, RSA said. However, there is a legitimate shipping firm with the same name that is completely unassociated with the scam.

Considering that we’re about two weeks away from the end of fall, a debut next week would hardly be unexpected.
