Don’t get me wrong — I used to be a big Genesis fan when I was younger, but Phil hasn’t really done anything I enjoyed in recent years. Last things of his I liked were Everyday and Both Sides of the Story.

It is too easy to denigrate Phil Collins. As a lover of both “serious” progressive music, standard tunes and good basic rock, I can tell you that most Phil-bashers miss the point. There’s a lot about Phil that keeps people ranging from a large minority of prog-heads, muzak lovers, hard-core hip-hoppers and drum-fiends firmly in his corner. Now go forth and figure it out – don’t just buy the negative hype. Explore the mystery of the Collins….
