Sometimes we just want our software to work; it doesn't need to do a hundred and one things or to solve 10 different problems. It is likely that we had one particular task in mind when we needed the software and it's this problem is the one we really want to solve. So it is with filesharing software. Ares Ultimate was designed for those of us that want a filesharing application that allows us to share music. It seems that Ares Ultimate hits the spot in this regard. Ares Ultimate's download and installation process happen quickly and quietly: press a button, leave for a few seconds, gasp with wonder at the efficiency of the process. It's that slick. The intuitive interface provided by Ares Ultimate is wonderfully simple to use and is customised for efficient navigation. No one will have any problem getting to grips with the controls.

What we liked
Day to day operation of Ares Ultimate is simplicity itself. This is a pleasant experience when compared to the drudgery of fighting ever-complex menu systems in other applications. It's really easy to figure what is going on and what you are supposed to be doing: we're convinced that even the most technologically-challenged operator could find their way around with ease. One massive bonus is that the software is AOL friendly - welcome news to all those AOL users that were stuck for a reliable music sharing program. This is what we like to call 'set and forget' software because once it's installed you can set it to work and forget it's even there while it completes the tasks you set.





What we didn't like
There isn't much bad we can say about Ares Ultimate, but we'll try. It would be possible, if you're a 'power user' of the more complex operations (things you would want to use very, very occasionally like adding a new skin or using hashlinks) offered by Ares filesharing software, then you might think that the simple interface is just a little bit too simplistic. These complex options are still there, but you'll have to delve into the menu system before you find them. This is the most minor of quibbles and won't affect the enjoyment and utility of what is an excellently produced application.
For these reasons, we would recommend Ares ultimate.
